Our ambitions

We believe that the Theatre Royal has the potential to be one of the most outstanding and innovative arts organisations, not only in the UK, but in the world – and we always strive for excellence in all aspects of our work.

We seek to establish our wonderful Regency theatre and the work that we do on the national and international arts map, and to develop a reputation for providing the very best levels of service to all our customers.

The organisation strongly believes in social conscience, and one of our key aspirations is to actively make a difference to people’s lives, both in the local community and through our education programmes.

To this aim, learning is placed at the heart of our artistic policy, and we strive to produce an education programme of the very highest standard. Our aim is to engage with the widest possible cross-section of the community through learning and in the variety of work we stage.

In the Theatre we maintain and develop a quality programme of presented and in-house produced performances, as well as developing our heritage programme ReVisit! to fully realise our ambition to do for Georgian theatre what the Globe does for Elizabethan drama.

To meet our aims we support and develop an expert, committed and well-treated staff who are passionate about the work that they do, and continually seek new ways to better our revenues so the organisation can fully realise all its ambitions.
