The Theatre Royal takes to the road for its annual tour of village halls and small-scale theatres in and around West Suffolk, with a production of the multi-award-winning Art.
Is a blank white canvas art? Even if the renowned ‘artist’ asserts that it is, in fact, a series of delicate white scars on a white background? And how would your friends react to spending 200,000 francs on such an outrageous purchase?
Serge has just bought such a piece, and soon lines are drawn as three old friends become embroiled in an increasingly personal argument. But with their very friendships on the brink of falling apart, the aftermath of one simple action simply reaffirms the strength of their bond.
A warm and witty exploration of friendship, Art won the 1997 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, and has since gone on to enjoy more than 2,500 performances across the world.
